Nirmal Gram Purskar 2010-11


Amritsar and Bathinda have taken the lead in village sanitation if the commendation of the Government of India for Nirmal Gram Purskar 2010-11 is any indication. The Ministry of Rural Development (Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation) has selected 51 state villages for conferring upon this national award to be presented by the President at a function soon.
As many as 17 villages each falling in the districts of Amritsar and Bathinda have been declared “Nirmal Gram” after being chosen for the award money ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh per village depending upon the population. These villages with complete sanitation facilities, including 100 per cent provision of toilets in every house.
