Wheat seed subsidy scam

The two-member Vidhan Sabha committee headed by Virsa Singh Valtoha, MLA from Valtoha, that inquired into the wheat seed subsidy scam today said it had come across startling facts.

Valtoha said the lists given by dealers to Agriculture Development Officers with the names of beneficiary farmers were cent per cent bogus. 

The Central Government had issued a subsidy of Rs 40 crore through the National Food Security Mission and the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas

Yojna for the state farmers to help them purchase 5.42 lakh quintals of wheat seed. A subsidy of Rs 500 was paid on each quintal of seed.
